Americans are more than twice as likely to vote for congressional or presidential candidates who strongly support action to reduce global warming, and three times more likely to vote against candidates who oppose action. That’s the result of the latest survey by the Yale Project on Climate Change Communication and the George Mason University Center for Climate Change Communication. “One of the most interesting—and consistent—findings is a clear difference between liberal/moderate Republicans and conservative Republicans,” with 61% of liberals and moderates but only 28% of conservatives within the party believing that global warming is happening. 66% of Americans supports laws to increase energy efficiency and use of renewable energy, and 64% support strict carbon pollution limits on existing coal plants.
