According to Glen Peters, senior research fellow at the Centre for International Climate and Environmental Research, even with the three biggest emitters making promises to reduce emissions, global climate change will not likely remain below 2°C. Further, pledges by Europe, the United States, and China “fall far short of fair” as the remainder of the world would need to commit to between 7 and 14 times lower than the EU, U.S. or China by 2030.
