Suntech Power, back from a February, 2013 default and rebranded as Wuxi Suntech, is planning to expand its photovoltaic production from 800 megawatts last year to 2.4 gigawatts in 2014 and “regain its place among the biggest producers,” Business Day reports from Australia. “Behind the revival is secretive Hong Kong-based billionaire, Cheng Kin Ming, also known in Mandarin as Zheng Jianming, with his Shunfeng group that has specialized in snapping up struggling solar firms such as bankrupt LDK,” Hannam writes.
