The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) reported more than 1,600MW of new wind energy capacity was installed in the U.S. in the third quarter, bringing the yearly total to 3,600MW. Despite increased investment and new jobs, the U.S. wind energy sector is still facing policy uncertainty with the possible cessation of the Investment and Production Tax Credit. Tom Kiernan, CEO of AWEA said, “extending the Production Tax Credit and the Investment Tax Credit this year for the longest practical term will help wind power grow our economy and deliver more savings to American homeowners and businesses.”
