Researchers are citing health risks as a reason to switch to electric stoves, after their measurements of indoor air pollutants linked to gas cooking motivated them to change their own appliance choices.
Experts who spoke with CBC recommended listeners make the switch if they can. For households that can’t bring themselves to replace a new stove, alternatives include using other cooking methods, ventilating while cooking, and using burners at the back of the unit, where air pollutants can be more effectively removed through the stove hood.

A study measuring indoor pollution from gas stoves was conducted earlier this year by Rob Jackson, professor of environmental sciences at Stanford University, who electrified his own home after he saw the study results.
