The overhaul at Ontario’s Darlington Nuclear Generating Station is behind schedule and $300 million over budget, the Toronto Star reports, and the Ontario Clean Air Alliance is urging Premier Kathleen Wynne to pull the plug on the project. “Surely the Wynne government can recognize an electricity system fiasco in the making,” the OCAA says. “We can save billions of dollars by combining strong energy efficiency efforts, local renewable power, combined heat and power in buildings like schools and hospitals, and water power imports from Quebec, instead of wasting another dime on Darlington.”
