The world’s largest geothermal facility, the 725-MW Geysers plant in northern California, is operating at just over two-thirds capacity after sustaining damage in one of the state’s raging wildfires.

The plant, which covers 45 square miles along the border between Sonoma and Lake Counties, has 14 powerhouses and belongs to Houston-based Calpine. It supplies 10% of the electricity the company generates in California and employs about 450 people.
“In addition to the five cooling towers, the facility has sustained damage to some power lines and communications. But the powerhouses themselves have not been damaged by the fires,” the Times reports.
