A government-controlled corporation in India is setting out to procure 500 megawatts of stand-alone battery storage for two sites in the state of Rajasthan.
The mid-April tender for 500 MW/1,000 MWh of storage capacity “is expected to be the first stage in a procurement drive for 4,000MWh of BESS in total,” Energy Storage News reports, in a post republished by the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA). The systems will connect directly to the country’s inter-state transmission system (ISTS).
