ClimateTruth and science celebrity Bill Nye are calling out the Atlanta-based Cable News Network (CNN) for allowing a climate denier to participate in its Earth Day panel on climate change.
The segment last Saturday on CNN’s New Day put Nye alongside Princeton physicist William Happer, who “thinks carbon pollution is a myth and once said carbon dioxide was being demonized like Jewish people in Nazi Germany,” Grist reports.

In addition to demolishing Happer’s alt-fact claims, Nye went after CNN’s choice of panelists.
“I will say, as much as I love CNN, you’re doing a disservice by having one climate change skeptic, and not 97 or 98 scientists or engineers concerned about climate change,” Nye said.
Now, ClimateTruth is out with a petition, calling on CNN to “stop booking all those who deny and distort the established science on climate change.”
“People who mislead the public on climate change should not be on the news. Period,” the anti-denier advocacy organization notes. “We’ve seen this kind of irresponsible reporting before—and we know that when viewers speak out, news directors listen.” So “Tell CNN: Stop booking climate deniers on your programs immediately.”
