Two indispensable Canadian news sites—two of the sources we rely on most to find content for The Energy Mix—have been shortlisted for this year’s Canadian Online Publishing Awards (COPA).
The National Observer is a finalist in the Best News Website, Best Column, and Best News Coverage categories. DeSmog Canada got the nod for Best Blog and Best Video Content.

“It’s pretty amazing when you think about it,” said Observer Editor-in-Chief Linda Solomon Wood, noting that the awards are also open to Canada’s most established news organizations. “These are some of the biggest, best-funded media companies in the country we’re competing with for the award. Compared to ours, their funding is huge.”
(Congratulations to COPA for having the good judgement to spot two of the best online outlets in the business. It would be a lot harder to do our job if the Observer and DeSmog weren’t so good at doing theirs.)
