Four of Canada’s leading low-carbon business networks have formed an alliance to coordinate efforts, according to a release from the newly created Low Carbon Partnership.
The initiative aims to combine the resources deployed now by The Natural Step Canada, B.C-based Climate Smart, Ontario’s Sustainability CoLab, and Quality Urban Energy Systems of Tomorrow (QUEST), which has branches in eight provinces and territories. Collectively, the partners claim to be in contact with 200 Canadian communities and more than 1,200 businesses generating more than C$100 billion in annual revenue.

“Addressing climate change requires an unprecedented amount of collaboration, knowledge exchange, and partnerships,” said QUEST Executive Director Brent Gilmour. The new alliance will focus on sharing best practices and data between sectors, communities, and regions, forging strong relationships between public and private sectors, and identifying emerging opportunities for both in the lowcarbon economy.
“The Low Carbon Partnership is positioned to make a very big impact on carbon emissions,” said Climate Smart’s Elizabeth Sheehan. “Working together, we’ll help communities and businesses cut costs, grow revenue, and compete in the economy of the future.”
