
EnerNOC’s EnergySmart blog is out with a video that warns of the “horrors of shutdown season,” when teachers and administrators eager to vacate the premises after a long school year forget the energy-saving tips that would conserve energy and money over the summer break.
The video originated with the energy team at Virginia’s Prince William County School District. But EnerNOC analysts found similar problems in organizations that left non-essential equipment running during the recent Memorial Day long weekend, said Practice Lead Richard Hart.

“Addressing this issue with proper shutdown procedures at these organizations in the future would save a combined $250,000 in energy costs,” EnergySmart notes.
