A U.S. environmental group plans to send canvassers to 1.3 million doors in 19 states to explain that “the country has both the tools and the imperative” to become 100% powered by clean energy.

With campaign offices in nearly a score of states and a headquarters in the nation’s capital, the Environment America Research and Policy Center plans to distribute literature showing the country has an achievable path “to transition entirely off dirty fuels to clean sources such as wind and solar,” the organization said in a release.

The group surveyed seven significant studies by academics, government agencies, and NGOs to conclude that “there are no insurmountable technological or economic barriers” to shifting the U.S. economy entirely off fossil fuels.

“To have healthier and more economically vibrant communities right now and a livable future for our kids, we need to transform the way we produce and consume energy,” says Rob Sargent, the organization’s energy program director. “The good news we’re spreading is that 100% renewable is 100% possible.”
