The United States’ Department of Energy Solar Decathlon was held earlier in October in Irvine, California. The competition challenged college students to design, build, and operate solar-powered homes that were not only energy-efficient and attractive, but cost-effective. The winner was chosen based on who had the “best blends affordability, consumer appeal, and design excellence with optimal energy production and maximum efficiency.” Congratulations again to the Steven Institute of Technology who were named the winners with the SURE HOUSE .
