Many sceptics are wondering how Shell’s Energy Transition Commission will approach its mandate. The commission has invited progressive solar energy and digital technology companies, alongside fossil fuel companies like BHP Billiton and Statoil. Shell’s corporate changes aim to promote their gas business over coal, and to continue leading in the development of carbon capture and storage.
