India’s commitment to slash its greenhouse gases will be dependent on some important conditions, according to Politico’s Eric Wolff. Without US$2.5 trillion over the next 15 years, likely supplied by rich nations like the U.S., India will not meet its commitments. The additional worry is that “India could throw a wrench into December’s Paris climate negotiations by spearheading the effort by developing countries to force wealthy nations to hike their financial commitments to help poor nations make the transition to low-carbon energy sources.”
