Solar Frontier’s CEO Wants 40¢/watt CIGS Modules

Solar Frontier, a Japan-based value-chain driven company, and the only volume producer of CIGS thin-film solar panels are ever-expanding and aiming at increased exports to the U.S. Currently, Solar Frontier’s annual capacity is about 900MW at its Kunitomi plant, with an additional 150MW at the Tohoku plant. With technological leaps forward, their future modules are anticipated to cost US$0.40 per watt including depreciation and US$0.30 per watt without.
