Early last month, the City of Burnaby urged the National Energy Board to cancel the Kinder Morgan hearing as there is a conflict of interest concern, since the company hired Steven Kelly as their consultant to the NEB. According to the National Observer, Kelly’s consulting firm was hired two years earlier by Kinder Morgan when he submitted an economic report to the NEB justifying the Trans Mountain expansion pipeline proposal. The city’s lawyer, Gregory McDade said, “Burnaby is of the view that the review process for the project has been irrevocably tainted by his appointment.”
