Clashes over water are killing 4,000 people a year in Yemen, SciDevNet reports, citing the national government. The UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) warns that the civil war has exacerbated water scarcity and left around 20 million Yemenis without access to safe drinking water. “If action is not taken, the country will fall into further humanitarian crisis,” says the FAO’s Fawzi Karajej.
