Architecture 2030 is reporting a fundamental change in the way the influential Design Futures Council assesses post-secondary institutions in its annual America’s Best Architecture & Design Schools.
When the Council’s publication, DesignIntelligence, “changes its ranking criteria after 15 years, professional schools take notice,” states an A-2030 e-blast.

The Council’s previous survey question: “In your firm’s hiring experience in the past five years, which schools are best preparing students for success in their profession?”
The replacement: “From your hiring experience in the past five years, which schools are best preparing students for the future of the profession and designing a sustainable future?”
Institutions use the rankings to market themselves, place graduates in top firms, attract leading professionals as faculty, as a performance benchmark, and “to help steer valuable resources in the direction of the most promising departments and schools,” Architecture 2030 notes. So “for professional architecture programs and schools, this has profound implications for how they prepare their students.”
