The oil and gas-funded Environmental Policy Alliance is out with a Valentine’s Day surprise for “big green radicals”, in the form of an 81-second video urging teens not to break up with fossil fuels.
“Something is making the fossil fuel industry mighty nervous,” wrote 350.org’s Jenny Marienau in an overnight email. “The fossil fuel industry just launched a coordinated counter-campaign attempting to smear the fossil fuel divestment movement. But their efforts are falling flat (which is no surprise, since their PR-firm-run ‘campaign’ is working with some pretty tired material).”

350.org attributes the video to Rick Berman, the U.S. public relations executive who told fossil fuel executives they can either “win ugly or lose pretty” in their response to clean energy and fossil fuel divestment. “After we watched it we laughed, then we laughed some more,” 350 writes.
