The U.S. Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) has announced $125 million in research funding for disruptive energy technologies that will help cut energy imports, reduce energy-related carbon pollution, and boost energy efficiency.
“The solicitation is open to a broad range of technologies, among them energy storage, combined heat and power, renewables, fuel cells, grid reliability, and energy efficiency,” reports Microgrid Knowledge. “ARPA-E expects to make 30 to 50 awards of anywhere between $1 million to $10 million,” beginning February 1, 2016.

“The critical question for applicants to consider in assessing potential impact is: ‘If it works, will it matter?’” ARPA-E said in its funding announcement.
