The Nebraska Supreme Court “removed a major legal obstacle for the Keystone XL pipeline,” Politico reported Friday, just hours before a U.S. House of Representatives vote affirming support for the project.
“Overturning a lower-court ruling, the justices upheld a Nebraska law that had allowed Republican Gov. Dave Heineman to approve the long-delayed oil pipeline’s route inside the state,” Politico notes. “The White House has repeatedly cited uncertainty about the Nebraska case to argue that it’s premature for Congress to step in.”

The Senate is expected to vote approval for the pipeline this month. U.S. President Barack Obama vowed early this month to veto the Congressional legislation.
