Light-emitting diode (LED) bulbs are pushing toward the consumer mainstream, with prices coming in as low as $8 with utility rebates.
“The efficiency of LEDs has continued to improve considerably in 2014, and utility rebates for the bulbs are increasing,” Tweed reports, in this short review of the U.S. LED market. “But there is still room for improvement in the colour rendering index of LEDs to where they have the same warm light quality offered by incandescents.”
