With climate scientists facing a steady stream of personal, legal, and online harassment, a U.S. legal defence fund is gearing up to fight back.
“Science is very important, and I think the increased politicization of climate science is a really horrible turn of events,” said attorney Lauren Kurtz, a former biologist who’s just signed on as the first-ever executive director of the Climate Science Legal Defense Fund.

“One of our main goals is educating scientists on their legal rights and what they’re up against,” she told Climate Progress. “If and when things arise, we want to move as quickly as possible.”
