The company known as the “Expedia of solar” has opened up a partnership with Staples, providing access to an online marketplace that allows the office supply company’s customers to compare solar energy system features and prices.
“Consumers will get choice and transparency,” said EnergySage CEO Vikram Aggarwal. “Solar, so far, has been a push product. But as the industry matures, consumers are becoming shoppers.”
“The company’s platform offers customers the chance to comparison shop for solar installers and financing options the way they would for other products, such as insurance policies or airline flights,” Tweed explains. Customers will receive Staples gift cards worth $125 to $300 for homeowners, $500 to $2,500 for businesses, if they buy photovoltaic systems through the marketplace.
