In this four-minute video, available in separate English and French editions, the Council of Canadians and Montreal-based Équiterre go through the serious health and environmental problems with TransCanada’s proposed Energy East pipeline.
“There is a desperate push to export tar sands oil,” says English narrator Maude Barlow, and Energy East “would see more than one million barrels of tar sands oil per day pumped to export terminals in Quebec and Atlantic Canada.” The project would trigger a 40% increase in tar sands/oil sands production and “drive climate pollution up, when we all know it needs to go down.” (h/t to The Energy Mix subscriber Diane Beckett for pointing us to this video)
