New lenders have brought more than $200 million in investment into the U.S. residential solar market over the last few weeks, Greentech Solar reports.
“New entrants, new investors and new financial models are changing the way people purchase and invest in solar,” Wesoff writes, with direct solar ownership via loans “gaining traction because PV systems continue to get cheaper, while financing options continue to improve.” In a recent survey, 60% said they would rather own their own solar system rather than leasing, and of the 26% who preferred leasing, “more than half would choose a loan instead if a warranty was included.”
