Solar Plus Storage Could Compete with Grid Power by 2020

SolarCity co-founder Peter Rive is looking ahead to a day when residential solar and low-cost storage combine to supply power at the same cost as grid electricity, Greentech Grid reports.

“The biggest barrier right now is to lower the cost of solar, and to work with others to lower the cost of storage, in such a way that the price of a solar system and storage system combined is so low that you can beat fossil-fuel-based generation,” Rive told the Energy Storage North America conference earlier this month.
