Faced with a federal government that gutted its carbon tax and is stalling on a national renewable energy target (RET), South Australia is increasing its RET with the goal of producing 50% of its power from renewables by 2025. “The sovereign risk created by the federal government’s unnecessary and unexplained review into the national RET has caused a number of projects to be placed on hold, putting many construction projects and ongoing jobs at risk,” said Premier Jay Weatherill. “There are hundreds, if not thousands, of SA jobs in the renewable energy sector, and these are the growth areas we should be supporting, not undermining.”
