The Sierra Club is circulating a video by Yale Climate Connections that puts together many of the most compelling facts behind the rise of renewable energy—from plummeting costs, to the opportunity to bust traditional utility monopolies, to the novelty of running your utility meter backwards by supplying your own power. Retired utility executive Michael Osborne of Austin, Texas makes the crucial point that we don’t set out to buy kilowatts of electricity when we flip a switch—we’re looking for energy services that are far better provided by distributed generation. Watch for the clips with Tea Party Patriots National Coordinator Debbie Dooley, an avid solar supporter in Georgia. Not to mention some great footage from Solar City and Tesla Motors founder Elon Musk, futurist Jeremy Rifkin, and others.
