The BBC Trust is extending in-service training to its reporters “to stop them inviting so many cranks onto programs to air ‘marginal views,’” The Telegraph reports. The courses are the result of a 2012 report that critiqued BBC’s science coverage for “giving too much air-time to critics who oppose non-contentious issues.”The Trust pinpointed climate change as a subject area where unqualified critics had been given too much air time, noting that “science coverage does not simply lie in reflecting a wide range of views, but depends on the varying degree of prominence such views should be given.” (h/t Rob Cottingham)
