Although China and the United States signed eight new partnership agreements to cut carbon pollution at a meeting this week in Beijing, the two countries are still debating how rich and poor countries should share the cost of reducing greenhouse gas emissions. “Developing countries are most concerned that they get funds and technological support from developed countries,” said Xie Zhenhua, vice chair of China’s National Development and Reform Commission. “On this issue, we are still having great difficulties and we have to put forth more effort.” “The significance of these two nations coming together can’t be understated,” added U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry. “We are working hard to find a solution together that can have an impact on the rest of the world.” (h/t to Inside Climate News)
