When the Global Wind Energy Council celebrated Global Wind Day June 15, it reported a huge increase in generating capacity over the decade, with wind now accounting for more than 300,000 megawatts around the world. Market leaders include China, with 91,412 MW, the United States, with 61,091 MW, and Germany, with 34,250 MW. The Council singled out Canada’s wind energy sector for laying a “strong foundation on which to build,” Rose reported. Canadian capacity grew by 1,600 MW to a total of 7,800 MW, a 22% increase in 2013. (h/t to Justin Bull at Clean Capital for spotting this story)
