The National Report has gone viral in the last week with its spoof report that widespread use of solar panels could eventually drain the sun’s energy. “Energy radiated from the sun isn’t merely captured in solar panels, but that energy is directly physically drawn from the sun by those panels,” in a process called “forced photovoltaic drainage,” according to a white paper attributed to the Wyoming Institute of Technology in Cheyenne. “If every home in the world had solar panels on its roof, global temperatures would drop by as much as 30 degrees over 20 years, and the sun could die out within 300 to 400 years.” (h/t to Joe Lhombreaud)
